Concord United Methodist Church Blanket Blessing

In
March 2016, the Project Linus group at
Concord United Methodist Church (CUMC) held a blanket making workshop for the church's Tweenager youth group.  Nearly a dozen children in grades 4-6 attended and learned some basic sewing, crocheting, and no-sew cutting techniques. Siblings and families joined in as well, making for a wonderful collaboration!

Over the next two months, the children and their sponsors continued to work on their special blankets.  More than 50 blankets were blessed in a special service on Sunday, May 22 and dedicated in loving memory of Mrs. Kathie Short, the founding member of the Project Linus group at CUMC.  The blankets will be distributed at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville.

The ladies of
Project Linus at CUMC would like to thank everyone who participated, with special thanks to Dr. Charlie Short for donating most of the workshop fabric; Melanie Hilton and Kim Mink for their coordination efforts; and Norma Mullinik for her assistance with delivering the blankets.
